REALB Appoints New Registrar

The real estate regulatory body in Fiji, Real Estate Agents Licensing Board (REALB) has appointed Mr. Peni Komainavoka as its new Registrar. The former Acting Chief Executive Officer and Acting Registrar who was on secondment from the Ministry of Commerce, Trade, Tourism and Transport was called back by the Ministry after serving the Board for almost 20 months.

 

​In the absence of the Registrar, the REALB Chairman, Dr Abdul Hassan had been involved in the operational matters of the Board in terms of ensuring the services were not hindered and members of the public were served with the normal service delivery.

 

Mr. Komainavoka has 17 years of work experience in the transport sector having worked for Land Transport Authority at different positions. He started as the Public Service Vehicle Officer for four years before moving to Technical Officer, Standards, and Compliance where he served for almost six years.

​He was then promoted to the post of the Transport Analyst where he had served for one year five months. ​In March 2017, he took up the managerial role as the Manager Regulations before joining REALB last month.

 

​Dr Hassan congratulated Mr. Komainavoka on his appointment and welcomed him on the Board to take the real estate industry forward. ​“We are happy to have him on the Board as the Registrar as he brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to the organisation. His experience and knowledge will be vital for the real estate industry,” he said.

 

​“His selection as the Registrar was purely based on his experience, capabilities, and his vision to the real estate industry to move forward."

 

​“We look forward to his contribution to the Board and the real estate industry. The Board has a vision for the real estate industry, and he will be responsible to steer the Board in the right direction.” ​Mr. Komainavoka holds a master’s degree in Engineering majoring in Transport Planning and Management from the Dalian University of Technology in Liaoning Province in China.

 

He has also attained his Bachelor of Commerce Degree in Economics and Management from the University of the South Pacific. He also holds a Diploma in Business Studies from the Fiji National University. On the appointment, Mr. Komainavoka said he was honoured to be appointed to work as the Registrar for one of the important sectors in the country.

 

​“It is an honour and privilege for me to be appointed as the Registrar of the Board. I thank the Board and the Ministry of Commerce, Trade, Tourism and Transport for having faith in me and entrusting with the responsibilities and the task to move the industry forward. This is a challenging role but surely an exciting journey for me,” Komainavoka said.

 

 

“I had a short courtesy visit to the Minister for Commerce, Trade, Tourism and Transport office and we had a fruitful discussion on a number of issues relating to my role as the Registrar of the REALB. In particular, the Government’s visions relating to the real estate industry were also discussed and how it can be improved and move forward.”

 

​Mr. Komainavoka started his official duty on July 23, 2020.
